Local Charities (some ideas....)

Power Junior Optimists and their Parents:

Very soon, our kids will talk up then vote on a charity (there more be may than one during the school year). In the spirit of Optimists Clubs, we work with locals. The charity proposal part is also part of running for an officer position, if your child is interested in that. It goes without saying then that you probably want to discuss what you know about these charities with your child.

Here is a list of local charities. If there’s an organization you would like to talk with, let me know. Botsford Senior Center wants to work with our kids this year, but not sure in what capacity. Any of these groups would be happy to come to a meeting and make a presentation for the kids.

Welcome Power Junior Optimists

Welcome to the home page for our Power Junior Optimist Club. My name is Jeanie Bay. Colleen Ruff and I will be the parent leaders for our Junior Optimist Club this year. Our first club meeting at school will be on Thursday, October 27th from 3:20-5:00pm in Room 102. In order to make sure we stay in touch with you, please sign up for the Junior Optimist ListServ for our school on the left side menu of this page. This is a different ListServ than the one used by Farmington Public Schools, and it's just for our club members.

I'm looking forward to working with you and your children as we select, plan and execute community service projects this year. The children will have the chance to work with great organizations like the Farmington Area Goodfellows, Relay for Life, Special Olympics and more. It's going to be a very exciting year in which they will have the chance to experience volunteering for charities, a life-long learning experience.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
